Biblical Preaching: Finding God’s Voice

God has always used people to share the good news about Jesus. Jesus sent his disciples out, telling them to “proclaim the gospel to the whole creation” ( Mark 16.15). God has chosen to reveal his wisdom, grace, love, and goodness through human messengers, or “jars of clay” so the surpassing glory and honor belong to God (2 Corinthians 4.7). Biblical preaching honors God by making his voice and his will known to the world.

My preaching focuses on the text of the Bible. We want to hear God’s voice speaking to us through the Scriptures. To hear God, we have to listen carefully to what he said through the apostles and prophets. Focusing on passages from the Bible forces us to find God’s voice, listen to the Lord’s points, and seek to fulfill our Father’s purpose. If you want to know what God is saying in the Bible, then expository, Biblical preaching is a great way to hear his voice.

Sometimes we have questions or interest in topics. We may have questions about a given topic, like baptism, or about something the Bible doesn’t directly address, like social media. In these instances, topical sermons help present a wider view of Biblical teaching. We can draw from information all through the Scriptures and make applications for modern life. God’s word contains timeless truth, and topical preaching helps us apply that those principles to our lives.

Bible Talk: Like Coffee Talk But Spiritual

If you want to talk about spiritual things, most days you can find live videos on Facebook or watch the discussion here. The goal is simple: talk with people of all ages, backgrounds, faiths, and places about spiritual things. Sometimes we’ll all agree; sometimes we won’t. The point isn’t to agree but to dialogue with each other and learn more together. I think you’ll enjoy our discussions as much as I do, so let’s get together, encourage each other, and talk through things in a meaningful way.

If you’ve got specific questions or things you’d like to talk about, please let me know. There’s a contact form on the bottom of this page. You can also send me a message on Facebook or Twitter.
